It was supposed to be a wonderful vacation day for Albert White. It was just his luck that there was a zombie outbreak on the tropical islands. With any luck, he'll be able to escape by a boat or a helicopter. He heard that one of the five islands had a hotel rooftop where people were evacuating. It was just a matter of getting there, and it would not be easy.
Name: Albert White
Age: 42
Birthday: March 3
Occupation: Electrical Engineer
Physical Description: Albert is a white man with a brown pompadour, brown eyes, a pudgy build, and a thick goatee
Clothing: red Hawaiian shirt, dark green t-shirt, tan cargo shorts, and white sneakers
Is the helicopter pad on the same island as Albert?
(50/50 | 7[d10]) Yes
Thankfully, the hotel where the evacuation would be taking place was on the same island he was.
Relatively safe prison
Albert was unsure how he woke up in a jail cell, but he remembered how wild the night before was. There was loud music, neon lights, and heavy drinking. He was not sure, but he may have punched someone the night before.
Innocent prisoner
There was a younger man in the same jail cell with him that had a messy beard and was donned in disheveled clothing. He was just now stirring, and Albert's heart raced as recollections of the altercation the night before surfaced.
Was this fellow cellmate the same one Albert punched last night?
(Somewhat Likely | 9[d10]) Yes
Albert's eyes widened in horror as the man gazed up at him.
Does he recognize Albert?
(50/50 | 8[d10]) Yes
"Hey, you're the motherfucker that punched me," the man said, lazily raising an accusatory finger at Albert. Albert glanced off to the side and said, "Yeah, sorry about that."
Does the man accept Albert's apology?
(50/50 | 8[d10]) Yes
"Ah...you're good man, we were both sloshed last night," he replied, letting Albert sigh with relief.
Out of curiosity, Albert asked, "How'd you end up here anyway?"
The man chuckled and said, "I think I stole a police car while drunk...it's still coming back to me."
Albert looked to the bars to see sunlight streaking in from outside. Strangely, it was quiet inside the jail. Too quiet. He tapped on the bars and called, "Hello? Is anyone there?"
Is someone coming to the jail cell?
(Somewhat Likely | 8[d10]) Yes
Cautious scientist
There were footsteps, and soon a lanky woman with curly golden hair and wide-rimmed glasses appeared. She had on a black t-shirt, white swim trunks, and yellow flip flops. She said, "Oh my word! Other survivors!"
Albert gave her a confused expression and asked, "Survivors? What the hell are you talking about?"
"Zombies out there!" the woman answered, gesturing outside with a terrified expression.
"Zombies? You're playing girl," the cellmate groaned.
"No no no, they're out there!" the woman insisted.
"Were you smashing drinks last night too?" asked the man.
"They were tearing people apart!" she cried.
"Zombies aside, can you get us out of here?" Albert requested.
"Oh, of course! Hang on!" she replied before she departed and returned several minutes later with a set of keys. She unlocked and pulled the cell door aside, allowing both men to freely leave. Albert immediately approached the window and looked outside.
Are there any zombies out there?
(Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...
They are uncomfortably close to the jail.
Are there more than 10?
(50/50 | 6[d10]) Yes, but...
How many?
*rolling between 11-20*
16 = 6[d10]+10
Albert counted 16 zombies outside, but they don't seem aware of the trio's presence. He backed away from the window in shock at the zombies and warned the man, "They're out there."
The man took a peek and muttered, "Shit dude."
"We gotta get out of here," the woman whispered.
"No kidding," Albert muttered as he shuddered.
"What're your names?" she asked.
"Albert," said Albert.
"Ian," the man replied.
"Yolette," said the woman.
"Is there anyone else in the jail?" Ian asked Yolette.
Did Yolette see anyone else when she entered the jail?
(50/50 | 9[d10]) Yes
Was this person alive?
(50/50 | 1[d10]) No, and...
"There was, but he's dead and his body's by the front entrance. It's gonna start stinking and attracting the zombies sooner or later," Yolette replied.
Is the smell at the front attracting zombies right now?
(50/50 | 3[d10]) No
The corpse's stench has not gotten to the point that it was a zombie magnet yet, so the trio still had time to plan their next move.
"We need to look inside the armory," Ian suggested.
"It's probably locked up," said Albert.
"I didn't see anyone else in this small station. They probably went out to help with the zombies," said Yolette.
The trio creep around the police station until they find the door into the armory.
Is the armory door unlocked?
(50/50 | 2[d10]) No
Ian tried the handle, but the door wouldn't budge and cursed, "Damn it!"
"Look for a key!" Yolette recommended as she began to search the room.
Albert joined in.
Do they find a key to the armory?
(Somewhat Likely | 2[d10]) No
They are unable to find a key, and Albert mumbled, "Damn."
"It may be somewhere else in the station," said Yolette.
The three fan out and begin searching the other rooms for any sign of the armory key.
Do they find the armory key?
(Somewhat Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...
Who found it?
1=Ian
2=Albert
3=Yolette
1 = 1[d3]
Ian managed to find the key in the desk drawer of one of the offices. As a bonus, there was an extra key attached to the keychain that could unlock something else. He excitedly returned to the hall and called out, "I found it!"
"Shush! They'll hear you!" Albert whispered with an aggressive shushing gesture toward Ian.
Do the zombies outside hear Ian's call?
(Unlikely | 4[d10]) No
Fortunately, the zombies were oblivious to the noise and still shambled about out in the daylight. Ian unlocked the door to the armory. Does it have any weapons?
(Somewhat Unlikely | 8[d10]) Yes
There are a couple pistols, a shotgun, and several extendable batons. Ian grabs the shotgun and takes a pistol. Yolette takes the other pistol and one of the batons. Albert grumbles at Ian and asks, "Hey man, you got a shotgun already. Can you give me your pistol?"
Does Ian honor Albert's request?
(Somewhat Unlikely | 7[d10]) Yes, but...
Ian holds out the gun to Albert with reluctance and says, "Here."
"Thanks," Albert says as he accepts the pistol and checks the magazine to discover to his dismay that it's loaded with rubber bullets.
"What's wrong?" asked Ian.
"Nonlethal rounds," Albert replied.
"The hell?" Ian asked in disbelief as he pumped his shotgun to eject an unspent shell and checked it. Is the shell nonlethal?
(50/50 | 9[d10]) Yes
"Are you kidding me!?" Ian exclaimed in an angry whisper.
"There may be other types of ammo around here," said Yolette.
Are there different types of ammo boxes for the group's weapons?
(50/50 | 9[d10]) Yes
A few boxes of 9mm hollow point rounds and a box of lethal 12-guage shotgun shells are present.
As Albert and Ian take the time to swap out ammo, Yolette ejects the current magazine from her pistol and inspects it. Is her ammo nonlethal?
(50/50 | 6[d10]) Yes, but...
The bullets are rubber, but there are some imperfections to them. Nevertheless, she switches ammo types so she's more likely to kill zombies if she needs to.
Albert grabs a baton, and all three soon head toward the front where the aforementioned corpse was.
(MAG: exploding gears, a bleeding heart, a tower, an explosion, a pair of tesla coils, three blocks, a pair of eyes, a megaphone, and a tired person)
The corpse was quite macabre. It was a young women whose chest had been ripped open and her face was eaten away. Blood was all over her, and a few feet from her was a silver iPhone that was broken beyond repair.
"Damn," Ian murmured in shock.
Yolette stared in silent horror and Albert gulped down the urge to puke.
When the initial shock subsides, Albert approaches the glass doors and looks outside. Are there any zombies around?
(Somewhat Likely | 8[d10]) Yes
How many?
8 = 8[d10]
There are eight zombies out in the parking lot. Are the zombies aware of Albert?
(50/50 | 4[d10]) No
Fortunately, the zombies are oblivious to Albert's presence? He starts to look around for a police car. Does he find one?
(Somewhat Unlikely | 6[d10]) No, but...
He doesn't see a police car, but he does see some bicycles tied to a bike rack for biker cops. How many bicycles are there?
2 = 2[d4]
There were only two bicycles. He turned back to Ian and Yolette and reported, "No police cars, but there are bikes out there. Only two though."
"I'm not walking," Yolette stated.
"I'll walk alongside you," Ian offered.
Albert looks back out at the bicycles again. Are there any zombies close to the bikes?
(50/50 | 3[d10]) No
The zombies are wandering around, but the group is away from the bike rack. Albert said, "We got a clean shot to the bikes, but they're tied to the racks."
"We can shoot them if we have to," said Ian.
"And bring the hordes down on us? No thank you," Yolette retorted.
She then raised a finger and said, "Evidence room. There's gotta be an evidence room here. Maybe there's something we can use to cut them free."
Does the small police station have an evidence room?
(50/50 | 5[d10]) No, but...
There isn't an evidence room, but they do come across a plastic crate containing confiscated items.
Butcher knife
Glock pistol (9 mm)
Ian picked up the Glock while Albert took the knife. He smiled at the fresh blade and said to the others, "Let's go."
The group head outside and move toward the bikes. Do the zombies notice the three?
(Somewhat Likely | 3[d10]) No
Lady Luck was still on their side as they reached the bicycles without trouble. Albert gets to work, and begins using his knife to saw through the rope. Is Albert able to cut through?
(Somewhat Likely | 7[d10]) Yes
Albert manages to cut through the tether, freeing the first bike that is taken by Yolette. Ian continues to watch the zombies? Do any of them notice the group?
(Somewhat Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...
How many notice?
3 = 3[d8]
Three of the eight spot the group and start toward them. Compared to their brethren, these three are shambling alarmingly fast toward the three. Ian warns, "Guys!?"
Albert spots the approaching zombies and quickly gets to work on the other bike. Is he able to cut it before the three zombies are close enough to warrant action?
(Unlikely | 1[d10]) No, and...
This tether is proving much tougher than the first, and the three zombies are closing in enough that Albert abandons the bike to take action as Ian shoots at the closest zombie with his shotgun. Does he hit?
(Likely | 7[d10]) Yes
(8 = 6[d20]+2) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.
Buckshot explodes out of the shotgun, but while it hits, its more of a graze than actual impact. Ian backpedals in a panic as does Yolette and Albert retreats with them. Do they manage to get out of range of the incoming zombies?
(50/50 | 6[d10]) Yes, but...
They do, however Ian trips against the curb and falls on his butt. Does the shotgun blast alert the other five zombies?
(Sure Thing | 10[d10]) Yes, and...
The other five are coming at the three, and they too have a speed akin to the others. Yolette's aim is shaky, but she fires four shots at one of the other zombies that is closing in on them. Do they hit?
(50/50 | 10[d10]) Yes, and...
(50/50 | 6[d10]) Yes, but...

(8 = 7[d20]+1) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.
Yolette manages to land three of the four shots, a glancing hit against its cheek and two in its torso, but it does little to stop it. Even worse, the damage appears to have sent the zombie into a rage as it lets out a scream and rushes ahead, leaping at her. Is Yolette able to dodge?
(50/50 | 2[d10]) No
Yolette tries to get out of the way, but the zombie grabs her and tries to bite. By this time, Ian was able to get back on his feet and trained the barrel of his shotgun on the head of the zombie accosting Yolette. He pulls the trigger. Does he hit?
(Very Likely | 9[d10]) Yes
(8 = 5[d20]+3) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.
It's a hit, but the strike to the hip does little to deter the zombie, and one of the other zombies closes the distance with Ian and swings at him. Does it hit?
(Somewhat Likely | 1[d10]) No, and...
It misses, and it trips against the curb and falls prone. More zombies are beginning to crowd around and get at Yolette who is screaming, "HELP ME!"
Do the horde of zombies push her over?
(Likely | 3[d10]) No
Against all odds, Yolette remains standing and struggles to shove the zombies off of her. Does she succeed?
(Unlikely | 5[d10]) No
She fails to get them off, and she screams again, "HELP!"
Albert stares in helplessness as Ian shoots at the zombie that fell over. Does he hit?
(Likely | 7[d10]) Yes
(11 = 8[d20]+3) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.
Once again, the buckshot seems to graze the leg of the downed zombie. Albert shouts, "Forget the bikes! We gotta get out of here!"
"But Yolette!" Ian cried as he rejoins Albert while four of the zombies start to bite at Yolette. Do they succeed?
(Likely | 6[d10]) Yes
(Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...

(5 = 4[d20]+1) Negligible: Nick/Scratch/Bruise.
They nibble on different parts of her body, and both men realize that Yolette is a lost cause. Albert looks to the side of the building where he saw the horde from earlier. Are they coming over?
(Likely | 8[d10]) Yes
How many?
5 = 5[d16]
Five were rounding the station toward them, and the group of eight was now surrounding and biting Yolette. Albert said, "We need to go, now!"
Both men break into a sprint as the zombies chomp down on the screaming Yolette. How many times is she bitten?
4 = 4[d8]
(9 = 7[d20]+2) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.
(10 = 8[d20]+2) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.
(20 = 18[d20]+2) Critical Injury: Requires immediate attention; clearly life-threatening if not immediately deadly.
(3 = 1[d20]+2) Negligible: Nick/Scratch/Bruise.
The bites continue to pile on, until one large bite to the neck seals Yolette's fate. She crumbles to the ground and becomes a fresh meal for the zombies. Albert and Ian run along the road from the zombie horde. Do they encounter any zombies along the way?
(50/50 | 2[d10]) No
They are fortunate enough to not run into anymore zombies as they get further away from the police station. Guilt wracked Albert as they continued. He should have abandoned the bikes as soon as the zombies began coming over. He could not let it consume him. They needed to get to the hotel to evacuate.

Smoke-filled signal tower
Once they were far enough from the jailhouse, both men stopped to catch their breath. Ian shook his head and muttered, "Damn it dude."
He looked to Albert and said, "We never should have gone for the bikes."
"I know," Albert admitted with sadness in his voice.
"They way they just...ate her!" Ian cried.
Albert shook his head and said, "We did all we could."
Ian sighed and straightened himself. Albert dusted off his shirt and looked to a tall signal tower with smoke rising from it. He saw that it was connected to a small radio station called Java Lines. Is there anyone inside the radio station?
(50/50 | 6[d10]) Yes, but...
There is someone inside, but it is hard to make out their figure because the lights are out. Is the figure shambling like a zombie?
(50/50 | 9[d10]) Yes
The figure's movements are awkward and jagged. Ian looked and said, "Should we go in?"
"That guy in there is definitely a zombie. Besides, the place is burning," Albert replied, gesturing to the smoke.
Ian started toward it and said, "I need to check. They could be someone who needs help."
"See how it moves!? It's a zombie! We gotta keep moving!" Albert insisted.
Does Albert manage to convince Ian to stay with him?
(Somewhat Likely | 2[d10]) No
Ian sneers at Albert and replies, "Fuck that dude! I'm going!"
He begins jogging toward the radio station and Albert calls after him, "Ian!"
Is the fire spreading?
(50/50 | 10[d10]) Yes, and...
The blaze has spread from the signal tower to the radio station itself. Flames began to lick away at the wooden structure, and Albert began to fear for Ian's wellbeing. He calls out, "The fire's spreading!"
Does the fire deter Ian?
(50/50 | 4[d10]) No
Are the doors of the radio station open?
(Likely | 4[d10]) No, but...
They are not open, but they are unlocked, and Ian manages to enter. Albert grits in teeth in frustration before he yells, "Fuck!"
He charges after Ian.
Inside the burning radio station, Ian sees the figure and calls out to it. Does the figure respond?

Is the figure a zombie?

The figure turns around, revealing a woman in messy clothing who is relieved to see Ian. She has a plastic crate with her and calls back, "Oh thank goodness!"
Despite the spreading fire, she seems completely unharmed and Ian tells her, "We need to leave!"
"There's some things I gotta get!" she responded.
"The fire's getting out of control!" Ian shouted as the walls scorched and blackened from the intensifying blaze. She looked back at the fire and gasped. Does she leave with Ian?
(Very Likely | 9[d10]) Yes
The two escape the burning radio station just as Albert arrives. All three get clear of the fire and get back to the road. Ian asks the woman, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," the woman responded.
"What were you doing in there?" asked Ian.
"Was getting some photos," she replied as she showed off a stack of photos inside the container of various people who were likely her family members.
Did any zombies come by during this time?
(50/50 | 1[d10]) No, and...
There are no zombies around, and it appears that the road further up is clear of them as well. Ian asked the woman, "Why don't you stick with us? We're trying to get to the hotel where they're evacuating everyone."
The woman shook her head and answered, "No way. That place is a death trap."
Both Ian and Albert gave her confused looks, with Ian asking, "Why not, soldiers and cops'll probably be guarding it."
"If any of them managed to sneak an infection through security, then all hell's gonna break loose," the woman answered.
"I'm sure they're doing thorough checks," Ian assured her.
She raised an eyebrow at Ian and asked, "You with them?"
Ian shook his head and answered, "No, I'm just a sales associate."
"Sorry, but I can't come with you," she said.
"But it's stupid going it alone. How do you plan to survive on the island full of those things?" asked Albert.
"I'll find a way," she replied.
"My friend's right, it's way too dangerous. Just come with us. It's safer," Ian pleas, holding a hand out to her. Does she accept the offer?
(Unlikely | 2[d10]) No
She shakes her head and steps away. She starts toward the trees, but just before she goes through, she turns back to them and says, "I hope you two can get off this island."
With that, she vanishes into the trees.
Both men continue on down the street. Are there any vehicles around?

Three vehicles: a news weather van, an RV, and a red muscle car with orange flames. Do any of them have their doors open?
(50/50 | 5[d10]) No, but...
Their doors aren't hanging open, however, they're not locked. How many are unlocked?
3 = 3[d3]
All three vehicles are unlocked. Both men try out the weather van first. Are its keys around?
(Unlikely | 5[d10]) No
Its keys can't be found, so they try the RV next. Any luck for them on the keys?
(50/50 | 2[d10]) No
The RV doesn't have keys either, so they check out the final car. Any keys?
(Very Unlikely | 1[d10]) No, and...
They don't find any keys, but Albert accidentally elbows the window hard enough that it causes a crack and triggers a noisy car alarm. This sends both men into a panic as the alarm was basically a dinner bell. Albert then remembered watching old action movies where the hero was able to hotwire cars. He commands Ian, "Keep watch! I'll see if I can hotwire any of these!"
Albert tries the muscle car first. Can it be hotwired?
(Somewhat Unlikely | 5[d10]) No
Are zombies coming?
(Somewhat Likely | 4[d10]) No, but...
Not yet, but Ian notices foliage rustling from the road they came and grew increasingly concerned. The muscle car was a modern type, so it was useless to try and hotwire. He tries the RV next. Can it be hotwired?
(50/50 | 8[d10]) Yes
Albert grins as he exposes the wires, but that grin fades when he realizes he had little knowledge of how hotwiring actually worked. Still, he tried anyway. Does he succeed?
(Somewhat Unlikely | 7[d10]) Yes, but...
The engine rumbles to life much to his amazement, but the "CHECK ENGINE" light comes on and he sees that the RV's fuel is low. He calls to Ian, "Get in!"
Ian races back, climbs aboard, and they drive off. Ian takes a seat in the back and Albert focuses on getting to the hotel. Is the road ahead clear?
(50/50 | 7[d10]) Yes
It's a clear road ahead, much to Albert's surprise. He was not about to complain though if it got them to the hotel faster. His mind could not stop worrying about the engine light and the fuel gauge though.

How many?
8 = 8[d10]
2 = 2[d4]
3 = 3[d8]

They nibble on different parts of her body, and both men realize that Yolette is a lost cause. Albert looks to the side of the building where he saw the horde from earlier. Are they coming over?
(Likely | 8[d10]) Yes
How many?
5 = 5[d16]
Five were rounding the station toward them, and the group of eight was now surrounding and biting Yolette. Albert said, "We need to go, now!"
Both men break into a sprint as the zombies chomp down on the screaming Yolette. How many times is she bitten?
4 = 4[d8]

(Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...

3 = 3[d3]
