Another straight-ahead corridor. Squinting slightly even with my naturally sharp nocturnal vision, I advance.
Stairs on left side Corridor continues.
I decide to leave the stairs for later and proceed, finding...
Corridor turns right 90 degrees.
a corner up ahead, turning 90 degrees right. I turn the corner, finding...
Continues straight.
that it continues along the new direction of travel for another 15 feet, and then...
Continues straight.
another 15, and then...
Continues straight.
yet another 15, before...
Side passage on right corridor continues.
branching off to a side passage while the main path continues straight along.
I decide to explore the side passage, which...
Door on left side corridor continues.
branches off again, with a door on my left, which I open.
Corridor straight ahead.
Another hallway, which I follow.
Continues straight.
15 feet later, I pause, observing how the passage

Goblin
A goblin, the mortal enemy of my race, emerges from the shadows behind me, brandishing a dagger...(Determining Health)

It caught me off guard! I whip around, but too late--the dull but still nasty-looking blade is swinging towards my flesh...

The wildly aimed blow misses and I retaliate, my own dagger thrust out at the foe...

My stab misses and, screeching, the goblin slashes at me again!

Again, the leering beast misses its change and I strike back--

...and fail to inflict any harm, my knife's edge skittering off the creature's improvised armor. Hissing balefully, the goblin lashes out with a headbutt...

--which I manage to dodge, swaying back out of reach and kicking low at the goblin's knee with my boot.

Goblin bone structure is apparently very flimsy--I hear a crack and it falls to the ground, howling ,its knee bent in an odd direction. (Inflicting 2 damage.)
It strikes back awkwardly...

...and fails to hurt me. I attack!

...and the goblin is slain! It crumples to the ground awkwardly, and I search the body for treasure.

The body has nothing of value. I proceed further down the passage...

I double back to where the side passage first branched off, and continue down that path.
Stairs on right side Corridor continues.
More stairs. I keep moving, marking the location mentally.
Side passage on right corridor continues.
Corridor turns left 45 degrees.
I continue along the corridor, ignoring the new passage that appeared. I turn along the 45-degree left turn carefully.
Continues straight.
The hallway continues along this new pathway another 15 feet before...
Corridor turns right 45 degrees.
turning right 45 degrees. I turn and walk slowly down the winding hall...
Corridor turns left 90 degrees.
The hall zig-zags in the opposite direction now; I walk down the hall tentatively.
Continues straight.
...another 15 feet...
Door on left side corridor continues.
....and there's a door, at last. I open it.
Corridor straight ahead.
Deciding not to go down that way yet, I keep going on the corridor the door branched off from.
Door on left side corridor continues.
I open this door.
Corridor turns right.
I proceed through the door...
Stairs Corridor ends.
Another set of stairs, and the corridor ends. I turn back to the main passage and continue past the door to the stairs.
Side passage on left corridor continues.
Heading along the main passage still...
Continues straight.
The corridor continues.
Four-way intersection.
A four-way intersection. Decisions to be made now...
I head left first.
Stairs Corridor ends.
Stairs, nothing else. I double back and go in the opposite direction.
Corridor turns right 90 degrees.
A corner back towards the way I came when I arrived to the intersection first.
Four-way intersection.
Another intersection. I head south.
Continues straight.
Continues straight.
Dead end.
A dead end. I turn back.
I head west at the last intersection.
Corridor turns left 45 degrees.
A left turn, 45 degrees, which I follow.
Door on left side corridor continues.
A door on the left! I open it.
Corridor straight ahead.
I decide not to go that way yet. I keep going down the passage.
Side passage on left corridor continues.
Going down the side passage....
Corridor comes to a T.
I head south.
Attacked by opposition.

Orc
It's an Orc, clearly blood-maddened by the gleam in its eyes. It hefts a chipped hammer and bellows...

It swings the hammer down before I have time to react...

It misses clumsily, and I lash out with my knife in return!

The haft of the heavy mallet deflects my strike, and the hammer is brought down again...

I dodge deftly, my knife flickering forward again.

It glances off the Orc's rusty breastplate and I growl, the Orc roaring to drown it out and bringing down the hammer yet again...

The attack just barely misses, and I lash out!

I inflict a flesh wound, at least, but fail to hit any vital organs. The Orc howls and swings the hammer at me.

and fails to hit me yet again, perhaps it's intoxicated. Either way, I press the attack.

I inflict another minor injury, and the Orc looks even angrier than before, bulling forward to headbutt me...

...and I dodge easily, sidestepping and swinging my knife out to slash.

Another hit, but yet again I fail to inflict any significant harm beyond a shallow cut. Spraying spittle everywhere with a roar, the Orc attacks!

...and the hammer strikes the wall, sending up sparks.

I hit the Orc for slightly more damage than before, but not enough to bring it down. It's swinging a fist at me...

0 = -1 +0 +1 +0

...but I see the attack coming and leap back out of range before thrusting forward again.

0 = +0 -1 +1 +0

...and nick the Orc's arm. It's bleeding quite profusely now, despite the shallowness of the cuts--the insignificant nature of each injury is offset by the quantity of wounds.

The Orc strikes out more desperately, but again hits the corridor wall instead of me.

-1 = +0 -1 +0 +0

This time, my dagger glances off armor again, and the Orc moves to crush me against the wall beneath its weight...

...but due to my small stature, I slither aside.

My dagger bites deeper into flesh and the Orc snarls, almost defeated but not willing to go down just yet--it brings down the hammer...

0 = +0 +1 +0 -1

...which I parry, sending tremors up my arm from the impact. I rip my dagger free and stab!

...and again am foiled by the beast's armor. Again it strikes with its weapon...

0 = +0 -1 +0 +1

...and doesn't hurt me a bit.

...neither do I hurt it in return...

and I am barely able to avoid the next strike.

...my dagger glances off its armor...

...and its hammer rebounds off the wall with a clang.

Deftly, the beast sways aside before I can strike back....

...but I duck the wicked hammer blow aimed at my head, aiming low with my next thrust.

...which slays the Orc outright. Voicing a final bellow, it falls to the floor with a crash, and moves no more. (Rolling for loot, 1 XP gained.)

I find one silver coin on the body! I stow it in my pocket. The hammer is too rusty and battered to be of any use, so I leave it there after wiping my dagger clean. (Proceeding down corridor.

Corridor turns right 45 degrees.

A right turn of 45 degrees, then...

Attacked by NPC.

Juvenile female mercenary

A young female mercenary, looking rather scared. I really don't want to have to kill her, but maybe I can knock her out or something...

I take a hit and stumble, managing to catch my footing and strike out with the hilt of my dagger before she can strike again...

It's a solid hit, causing some bruising most likely. Wild-eyed, she swings her sword again.

The flat of the blade crashes into my shoulder and I fall, making the fall a roll but hurting quite badly. I stand up again and whip my dagger's pommel at the9 side of her head...

The hit knocks her back, but she chops down clumsily...

...and staggers me again, but when I rise up, it's with my dagger hilt swinging towards her chin...

...and she dodges as quickly as she can, bringing the sword down...

...and I fall to the ground as everything goes dark around me...
I wake up some time later, stripped of equipment, and tunnel my way back out of the dungeon. Time to go home and get a new dagger...

GAME OVER.
